we decided on the spur of the moment to go away for 2 nights over the bank holiday. Where to go only one place the claremont hotel where we are treated with the most fantastic welcome and looked after so very well.This is our second visit this year and looking forward to our third in november and we have also booked next years hol in june.The hotel is lovely the rooms are kept to the highest standards and the breakfast is superb.Corina and arpi are the best hosts you would want to meet i would reccomend this hotel to everyone well done corina and arpi keep up the the good work. |

Having just returned from our umpteenth visit;we could'nt work out how many times we've visited; we still cannot believe that a hotel service could be so consistent.Nothing changes,the rooms are always clean and well presented,the breakfasts always fresh and appetizing.The only change seems to be in CARINA, her once infectious smile and enthusiasm seems to increase every visit.Both CARINA and ARPI cannot do enough for you even though their days must surely be long and tiring.They have always made us feel one of the family and judging by the comments of other guests we are not alone.On the rare occasion we,ve made a request Carina acts immediately to satisfy our requirements, you never have to wait.Having stayed in many hotels and B&Bs some very expensive we,ve never experienced such service or warmer welcome.We look forward to our next visit hoping it will be sooner than later.TO CARINA and ARPI our sincere thanks, and remember both ,It,s not a crime to take the odd day off. |

What an enjoyable stay, Carina is an exceptional young lady, didn't meet Arvi, but his food was great. We have been touring UK for four weeks and this place is No 1. We are the second visitors from our family and although it is unlikely we will be back, too old,too far, our daughter will be. We all love the place. Carina, Australia needs you. |

Hi to anybody new reading this Visitors' Book to find out about the Claremont. Just read all the other entries and you will realise that this is the place to stay in Polperro. Carina is a one off - sunny personality and an infectious giggle that will make your stay so enjoyable and Harpi who is rarely seen but works very hard and serves up a great breakfast. We have just returned from a week at the Claremont our 4th visit and as usual the room was spotless and service second to none.
Carina & Arpi are great hosts and make you feel more like freinds than customers her cheerful smile and giggle livens up your day and Arpi is always there to help with the bags and anything else you need.
Just to finish a lot of more mature B&B owners could learn a lot from this young couple.

Having read several entries in the Visitors Book i see its going to be difficult to add much to their Reviews. And sign up to the Carina Fan Club after you hazve walked up or down the hill to the Hotel to be met by that lovely smile makes most things better. And what's more you are left in very little doubt its genuine not the usual Official Smile Chain hotels provide. And if you see it slip at any point it will be as rare as the "hens teeth" people quote. Oh and there's the blush too that appears when compliments made to about her |

Just back from 4 days in Polperro - weather was brilliant. Hotel clean & pleasant and we were met by the lovely and friendly Karina with her infectious laughter! She was extremely helpful in pointing me in the right direction to get a surprise birthday cake for my daughter. We would definitely go back & stay & only disappointed we didnt get to try her cream teas. She was so easy going and always a beautiful smile on her face and how lovely to be allowed to bring our own alcohol into the hotel - not many places would do that.It takes a lot to impress our teenage daughter but Karina won her over! |

Carina looked after us with her endless smile and sunny disposition..nothing was too much trouble. She and her partner work very hard to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. The lack of a bar and dinner restaurant is not a problem as there are numerous places within walking distance to eat and drink. (they will also chill your own drinks and / or provide glasses if required...how many hotels will do that?) The car park opposite the hotel is also a bonus in Polperro, which is mostly car free, unless you have an allocated space. The Breakfast time slot is short but practical for all concerned, and the full English was beautifully cooked and presented. We will return |

I had a genuine and warm welcome at the Claremont Hotel. Carina and Arpi, the young couple who have the hotel in charge, are really friendly and helpful, Carina has a wonderful smile all day long, she looks after you and makes you feel at home. English breakfasts are freshly cooked and delicious. The rooms are very clean and towels changed everyday, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in the middle of the village, and it's very nice to have a free car park right opposite the hotel. Polperro is a pretty fishing village, with a few nice restaurants, not too expensive,
It was a real pleasure to stay there, I highly recommend it, and I'm looking forward to going back, as soon as I can. I wish Carina and Arpi good luck, and the best for the future. |

nice room nice hotel fantasic breakfast and car parking right in the centre which is cctv monitored is a great bonus.cannot fault it for the price. a great centre for exploring this bit of cornwall.
Room Tip: room with a bath if you are doing any long walks

just had 3 nights here, we were very pleased with the services, and breakfast, karina was really helpful and a delightful person very hard working and nothing was too much trouble for her. We were unlucky with the weather but that is life.plenty of hot water very clean couldn't have been better.Food at treble cafe excellent. |

Anyone thinking of booking a holiday at this superb hotel WILL NOT be disappointed.It is situated in the heart of such a beautiful quaint village with so many friendly people.The rooms are spotless,the service is exceptional and the breakfast's are always cooked fresh and lovely and hot.You will be made to feel so welcome by Carina And Arpi and you wont want to leave by the end of your stay!! We had a lovely time at The Claremont Hotel and enjoyed our warm,clean,comfortable stay and delicious cooked breakfast.
My boyfriend and I loved it and would highly recommend to anyone, as you are staying in the middle of the village with the biggest car park in Polperro.

After another recent stay - I think it's our 6th or 7th - I would like to say again that the Hotel is fantastic and Carina and Arpi are doing a wonderful job. Everything is spotless and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are second to none and I highly recommend Carinas home made cream teas. They are the best I have ever tasted. Have just returned today, 31st July 2010, after a 4 day stay at the Claremont. Very clean room,a great cooked breakfast every day,free parking opposite the hotel and Carina always friendly and helpful. In the evenings you can eat your pasty/takeaway on the hotel terrace and if you have a bottle of wine Carina will provide glasses and ice. Very good value. We will visit again. Colin and Sandie |

The Clarmemont is in a lovely spot together with free parking, which is a real bonus. Just returned from a great five day stay at this Hotel. Catrina and her partner were very welcoming, they keep the place spotless. Nothing was too much trouble, excellent location and free car parking. There is no Bar but the idea is that you take your own drinks, glasses, and ice are supplied for you whenever you need them, and the balcony is an ideal spot to have a great drink before venturing out to have a lovely meal in the village. Okay this hotel isn't the Ritz but it's certainly not a rip off. Polpero is perhaps the most prettiest and authentic fishing village in Cornwall, but this authenticity comes with a price i.e lack of parking. With secure free parking right opposite and the hotel being situated in centre of the village you can not pick fault with it's location.
We were instantly greeted with a very pleasant girl behind the desk who made you feel very welcome, She even offered us help with our cases but it was only my stubborness for help that made me refuse it . The staircases are steep and narrow and can be tricky with large cases but with old buildings you have to expect this.
The room we had was spacious but also very clean perhaps the one of the cleanest rooms we had stayed in for this price range. The room was kept spotless and we had clean towels for every day of our stay. They even provided us with a safe for which you did not have to pay extra.
Breakfast although a little limited is very well cooked and as long as you show up in the time you do not feel as you are being rushed. You are always greeted with a smile which does add a plus to the experience.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay for the week and with the very friendly staff we felt that we really were geniunely welcome there. The only thing the hotel lacked was a bar which would of made it better, but with numerous pubs and resturants only a stones throw away you don't seem to mind. Besides there was a fridge so we could always bring in our own booze if we wanted.

I have stayed in this hotel in 1976. I was 12 then. I can see nothing has changed, not really. Amazing hotel. Am I correct in thinking there was an elder couple running the hotel at that time? They were so nice for our Family.************************************************************
Present Owners Note. Yes, as I understand it you are correct about the owners in 1976. The hotel was in the same ownership for about 40 to 50 years up to about 1985. Mr & Mrs Garner were the owners and when they retired their two daughters took took over with one of their husbands, the other daughter remained unmarried. They retired about 1985. They were very popular people and when I took over in 1997 they used to visit me each week, park in the hotel car park and collect their pension form Polperro Post office. They all lived to a ripe old age but all 3 passed away several years ago. I used to get many guests enquiring after them but less now for obvious reasons. |

This was our first visit to Polperro and The Claremont for 16 years and nothing has changed much - which was exactly what we had hoped for.
Our wonderful memories of our previous stay were proven not to be wistful.
Polperro is a quintessential Cornish fishing village for Australian tourists and The Claremont adds to its charm.
All of the excellent reviews (on TripAdvisor) are correct - discount the others.
We just love it!!!

We are expats living abroad, and recently returned to England to see family and friends. Whilst there, we planned a short holiday in Polperro and stayed at The Claremont. Nothing was too much trouble for Bill, the proprietor, and his staff who were attentive, friendly and good fun. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and look forward to staying at the hotel again.

Just returned from the Claremont.
It is right in the heart of Polperro and with a free car park, which is right opposite the hotel.
Hotel is close to the harbour and lots of pubs,.
Service was superb nothing was to much trouble. You are given a key to the front door so you can come and go as you please.
Hotel is not the Ritz (but neither is the price) but very comfortable rooms with a great shower.
Breakfast was very good.
Overall very good value for money.
I would not hesitate to return.
